Computer Power Supply +12V … ACTUAL Voltage?
Hello everyone. My motherboard came with a software utility to monitor CPU/mobo temp., fan speed, and voltages. I just put in a brand new power supply, and the +12V rail keeps triggering the warning alarm. It is usually at about 13.1, but under heavy load, it goes a little over 13.3V. Is this safe? Is it damaging my computer?
Unfortunately I never checked this voltage with my old power supply, so I don’t know if this is a new development.
A computer PSU should be much closer to 12V than that. Either your PSU is out or your monitor is not very good. Get a friend with a multimeter to check the actual voltage.
