Maya or 3Ds Max?
I would like to use a 3D modelling and animation software for game development and film animation.
On one hand, 3ds max seems to be the most commonly used in the industries while maya has got very good reviews.
And I have checked the price at my country. Both software have similar prices.
What are the differences between the two?
Remember, just because they do the same thing, nd the price is the same does’nt make them FAMILY…
1.) If you know MAYA, then there is no way you’d have a difficulties in learning Max
2.) Maya is more difficult than Max.
3.) Max is easier to learn and work, since its more environmental friendly than Maya.
Both have similarites nd differences, like I really like Max’s modeling tools, because you can model quickly and fast. Max’s modifier stack is a brilliant idea, so u don’t have to delete your history when modeling and you can quickly detele and change the order on the fly. Maya�s hypershade for creating materials, and its very powerful dynamics engine, reactor is close, but it doesn’t have the ease of use that Maya does. Maya’s quick menu (hold the spacebar) because everything was in reach within seconds, something that Max needs.
I would suggest ya , if u wanna learn fast and work with enjoyments, and ur work is mainly with objects, House design, car design, interior exteriors, etc, to go with MAX.
But if u r doin pro cartoons, animation, motions, faces etc then go with MAYA, bt i would suggest ya if u r new to modelin world, start with max 
btw Maya costs 4 times more than ma car
